Dermiel sterile pads are non-adhesive wound covers based on honey for superficial wounds. Dermile pads have an absorbent layer with a small amount of liquid based on honey and glycerol, making the dermiel pads feel moist to the touch. The sugars in the honey help to maintain the water balance of the wound, allowing it to close up faster. When the honey enzymes come into contact with the wound, they produce small of amount of hydrogen peroxide. This dose is too small to inflict damage to the wound or skin, but it cleans the wound thoroughly and keeps it clean.
